I am so frustrated with Sherlock fic!

Maybe it's all the years of reading HP fic, but I just find the quality of Sherlock fic lacking. There's so much unnecessary quoting of canon dialogue (only Buffy comes to mind as a close second) and there are so many fics rated E that have a single sex scene, and it's a hand-waved hand-job.

And I don't want to be ageist, truly I don't, because Ladycat and Viciouswishes wrote amazing prose, insight, introspection and smut when they were barely out of their teens, but the Tumblr-esque tee-heeing over "We're only 14! And we're in love with 30-40 year old men!" drives me batshit. As if that's a new thing for teens, as if James Marsters and Tony Head and Robert Downey Jr and Patrick Stewart and George Clooney and Colin Firth didn't exists for those of us young in the 80s/90s/2000s?

Unfortunately, that attitude bleeds into the fic. Tired of reading UST filled fic that culminated in a off-page blow job, I Googled "Hottest Sherlock fic" and the VERY first Tumblr rec post I found rec'd a threesome fic, but then decried the true possibility that men that age (mid-to-late 30s) would have sex that much (about once a day). ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Yeah, I know for a lot of people who haven't hit 35+, the idea that people their parents' ages (gasp!) still have frequent, often kinky, desperate, sweaty, sometimes in groups, sometimes ill-considered sex can be a shocker.

But please, fan fiction writers of Sherlock fandom, please stop and look at Benedict Cumberbatch in 2015. He was 38 years old, newly married for the first time, and impregnated his (then) 36 year old wife twice in 18 months. And it's not even healthy, hard-bodied adults like Benedict in "Dr. Strange" who can still burn up the sheets over 35. A LOT of people discover their kinky side in their 30s and 40s.

Jay Z is 47 -- my age -- and in the past year has weathered the fallout of his multiple infidelities after Beyoncé released "Lemonade," released and promoted a new album, and just had a set of twins with a woman who has one of the most perfect bodies ever created. FORTY. SEVEN.

And John Watson has a 24-hour refractory period at 39? The hell.

In conclusion: Please rec me some smut.

I was commenting to my TV addict husband that I don't think of myself as someone who watches A LOT of TV, because I read more than I watch and I always seem to have time to dick around on Pinterest or talk on the phone for hours and therefore am obviously not a huge TV nerd. Lies, damn lies. So I work 40 hours a week at a college, take care of a 5 year old boy who is reading (Eeee!!) and cook from scratch and listen and offer support to my friends as they plan weddings and college majors and possible children and huge life decisions, all the while maintaing a head of thick(ish) curly hair, giving my husband something he can feel and reading a shit-ton of "Teen Wolf" AUs. And yet I watch:

8) Agents of Shield (!!!)

15) Downton Abbey

Granted, most of those shows are staggered by hiatus, so I don't I don't feel like I'm watching *that* much in any given season. There are also shows I watch when Caza's watching them (True Blood, Wilfred, Warehouse 13, etc) that I don't *count* as watching, because I don't ask him to pause the DVR if I have to pee, and I'm usually either looking at pics on Tumblr or reading a magazine while he's watching it.

The Game, however, is this: CAN YOU BEAT IT? While I feel I have a light-nerd-typical amount of TV watching, I think Caza may be the Big Kahuna, especially given his RL to TV time ratio. CAN YOU OUT NERD CAZA???
