Guys. Magical sex swap FAN FICTION and the trans experience are not REMOTELY the same. You might as well apologize to bi/queer folk to briefly making Sam/Dean gay in a fic. The second thing is Sam believing he and Dean would conceive a "mutant kid." That's far more offensive than the supposed trans insensitivity, since consanguity merely increases the chances for chromosomal abnormalities and recessive diseases. If Sam and Dean could conceive a child, it would have every chance to be healthy since we know its parents, grandparents, and at least one great-grandfather were. That might freak people out, but its true (and Sam Winchester would now that). Still a good fic.

Notes: There are things I love about this fic and things that seriously bug. The title, for one. It sounds like the writer set out to write a few thousand words of Dean dirty talk and then settled in for a long, plotty Weecest that kept the jokey ficlet title. The title does not remotely reflect what the fic is about. This story moves Azazel's plan for Sam up a few years to when Sam is 16 and Dean is 20. After the dirty talk, Sam and Dean fall into a huge discovery story of predestined, epic, no-one-has-ever-loved-like-this love. Parts of that are great. But it also comes with a constantly post-coital weepy Sam ("Sam Winchester cries through sex"). Some tears are expected -- the Winchesters are canonically emotional and Sam is only 16, in love with his brother and being groomed by a Knight of Hell. But this Sam is part uber-badass and part wailing child. The tears got a bit much for me. Like any epically long brain-eater fic, there are constant moments of peril, constant internal and external angst that causes the boys to doubt each other, and marathon sex every few pages. The Azazel part, however, is great. Revelations given later in canon (Sam's blood drinking, Mary's deal with Azazel) are revealed earlier and Azazel is well written. In fact, the majority of the dialogue is perfectly in character; especially Bobby and John. The OCs are nicely done (especially Reggie, I'd like a whole fic about him) and the Sanctuary is cool. John gets the Bad Dad treatment, but then canon nailed that final nail with "Jump the Shark." I like Sam and Dean's interaction, though, and up until it just becomes escalating marathons of super incredible unbelievable sex, the sex is hot. I also liked the use of Amarillo cause hey -- Texas. This is a WIP at 300+ words, but it ends (at this reading) at a satisfying stopping point.

That said, this is incredibly well written and insightful. Soulless Sam is exactly as cold (in flashbacks) as he should be. Re-souled Sam is as hurt, jealous, and lost as he should be. The case fic is good. The hunters after Dean is good. Vampire Dean is well done and not derivative or overwrought. But it’s just not Wincest for me without the ever-present pining for each other that allows emotion to supersede societal taboos.

Notes: There are things I love about this fic and things that seriously bug. The title, for one. It sounds like the writer set out to write a few thousand words of Dean dirty talk and then settled in for a long, plotty Weecest that kept the jokey ficlet title. The title does not remotely reflect what the fic is about. This story moves Azazel's plan for Sam up a few years to when Sam is 16 and Dean is 20. After the dirty talk, Sam and Dean fall into a huge discovery story of predestined, epic, no-one-has-ever-loved-like-this love. Parts of that are great. But it also comes with a constantly post-coital weepy Sam ("Sam Winchester cries through sex"). Some tears are expected -- the Winchesters are canonically emotional and Sam is only 16, in love with his brother and being groomed by a Knight of Hell. But this Sam is part uber-badass and part wailing child. The tears got a bit much for me. Like any epically long brain-eater fic, there are constant moments of peril, constant internal and external angst that causes the boys to doubt each other, and marathon sex every few pages. The Azazel part, however, is great. Revelations given later in canon (Sam's blood drinking, Mary's deal with Azazel) are revealed earlier and Azazel is well written. In fact, the majority of the dialogue is perfectly in character; especially Bobby and John. The OCs are nicely done (especially Reggie, I'd like a whole fic about him) and the Sanctuary is cool. John gets the Bad Dad treatment, but then canon nailed that final nail with "Jump the Shark." I like Sam and Dean's interaction, though, and up until it just becomes escalating marathons of super incredible unbelievable sex, the sex is hot. I also liked the use of Amarillo cause hey -- Texas. This is a WIP at 300+ words, but it ends (at this reading) at a satisfying stopping point.
