Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] vampirefever, I was forced to confront one of my fears button-eyes and plushy faced this morning: fear of stuffed animals.

Then I began to wonder if there was an actual phobia assigned to my fear (well, it's primarily of stuffed animals dressed up like people - your garden variety teddy bear won't make me soil myself or anything, but you show me a Paddington Bear in that little yellow slicker and we're talking heebie jeebies...)

I checked out the list of phobias and found out that there isn't a fancy Greek term for my fear - so I made one up: agriplushiphobia.

There are, however, three different phobias dealing with fear of an erect penis:

Ithyphallophobia- Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect penis.
Medorthophobia- Fear of an erect penis.
Phallophobia- Fear of a penis, esp erect.

Bwaaaa???

And this one's just funny:

Lutraphobia- Fear of otters.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - now, stop pinching me, Stoney! Or do it harder.

*hangs head in shame*
I'm sorry my shag happy boys and their naughty bondage games got you so upset, but luckily none of them has a penis (erect or otherwise) to add to the eeepfest and only the duck has dated an otter (and that was before he came to live with me).

That icon!!! Eek!!!! Heh. Otter. It's just funny.

But... otters are the clown prince of dthe animal kingdom!! They are my favorites.

I am going to work in "medorthophobia" into three conversations today.

I like that Medorthophobia would be a lovely middle name. Are you really that happy with 'Anne'? Seriously? Hee. I feel like a tool. No, worse than that. A mook.

That icon...I don't understand it...and I'm singing the "Baywatch" theme...but I'm still amused...

Um, the SNL sketch: The Falconer?

And why the holy hell does the world need a picture of him holding a FALCON?? It's the conch shells on his jacket (and the lack of chest hair) that make me giggle.

DOnald, you are the falcon, and I will be....

THE FALCONER. *screeee!*

Now that one I get. I heart Amy Poehler. I heart her so hard. I need a Tina Fey / Amy Poehler icon...just wishing out loud...

THE HOFF! THE HOFF AS A FALCONER!!! How did I miss that one? I have the fuzzy bear slippers at Christmas, the moterbike, the flowers in water...damn!

I can't believe that those pictures are in all seriousness...*snarffle*

dude! i totally used to be phallophobic. seriously! penises just seemed so ...scary. a limb that could move without concious intent from its owner? scary! you could never know what they were up to! or what their evil intentions were!

one time i had a nightmare about being chased by penises!

&yeah, i'm over it, as you may have guessed by my consitent, voracious reading of stories featuring penises.

i have had the weirdest range of fears...oh man.

I wouldn't say I've ever been medorthophobic...but I have found them amusing. Kind of like strange, little trouser puppets. Heh. Nightmares about being chased by peni!!! Did they have little pink feet? *is wrong*

trouser puppets!! heee!

they didn't have pink feet. some of them were attached to this guy i know. most of them were just kind of floaty.

SUE!!

*PINCH!*

Where's your spirit? Holding a green beer doesn't count. Or a green bra. Unless you take off your shirt..

*leers*

I totally forgot to wear anything green! Well, 'cept mah teeth...

Oh! Wait! I have on green MONKEY SOCKS!!! Whee!!!!

*pinches you back*

Mmmmm...green beer...

Fear of *thinking about* an erect penis? Now that's sad. Because it's like that old thing where someone tells you, "Now don't think about pink elephants!" And immediately all you can think about is pink elephants. So if you have ithyphallophobia do you go around thinking about erect penises (penii?) and cowering in fear all day?

Green monkey socks? I'm jealous. All I have is a green sweater. You're so much cooler than me.

I know - the "thinking about" is what killed. "I'm afraid I'm going to start thinking about my phobia..." Heh.

Monkey socks? Rule. I have four unmatching pairs. And monkey pajamas. And monkey house shoes. And, totally OT? Yesterday, online, I found this for my kitchen: For Max!

Eeeek! You have to get it! So cute!

OK, I never knew you had a monkey fetish. Something new I've learned today...

Date: 2005-03-17 06:10 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
I have many fetishes (okay, really just monkeys, dachsunds and daisies - I'm so freaking girly) that I'm open to sharing. And you?

Happy St. Pat's day! Don't you folks have like a big parade or something?

Date: 2005-03-17 07:51 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] anelith.livejournal.com
They have a big parade down in Boston, but that's about 45 minutes away from where I live so we won't go see it. Our big excitement today is the Ice Cream Social at Nathan's preschool this evening. Don't laugh! It's quite the event!

Fetishes for me... People keep giving me stuff with cats, because I have one, but I don't really *want* it. I don't collect anything in particular, I'm boring that way!

Date: 2005-03-17 05:55 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] paynbow.livejournal.com
Hee! I love reading the different phobia's they've named! Because you know if they've named it that someone is afraid of it. I saw one for peanut butter once *g* And that post with the teddies? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! *g*

Personally I have 2: Spiders *shudder* and needles *bigger shudder* With spiders it's mostly he BIG ones...with needles its...gah...I can't even type about it. Just thinking about it makes my back and arms all itchy.

Date: 2005-03-17 06:07 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Spiders? Not lovin' em. Not a horrible phobia, or anything, just don't care to have them crawling on me. Snakes? Scare the ever loving CRAP out of me. Still, to this day, at 34, I keep my feet under the covers 'cause snakes might somehow surround my bed and bite my toes. Seriously. Needles? Don't like 'em (I have tiny, tiny veins - Spike would have to suck hard) but I can deal.

Peanut butter? LOVE it. Not scared of anything I can eat. But I completely walk on the other side of the mall from the "Build a Bear" teddy bear dress up store. I'm a freak.

Date: 2005-03-17 06:14 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] paynbow.livejournal.com
But the freakiness is part of the charm! *g* Stffed animals is an odd one...I know people afraid of clowns, but that's fairly common...honestly I find them a little offputting myself.

I hear you on the snakes thing...I don't like the venemous ones...the idea of something that could bite me with it's little needly teeth getting me in the night...*shudder*

I actually have fairly large and visible veins. You can totally see them in my wrists and, heh, even my hands. Yet when I needed intravenous anti-biotics a few years ago I got the one nurse who couldn't find a goddamn vein! She poked me like 4 times with the bloody needle before finally passing it off to the other nurse. But that wasn't the source...that was like someone up there going, "afraid of needles, eh? *evil laugh*"

So the "barrel bear" in Wonderfalls might have freaked you out a bit...

Eeek! Runs from barrel bear. Then cries for Tim Minear...
