N.E.R.D. = Not Even Remotely Dorky
Nov. 21st, 2010 10:14 amSo I was on Facebook (like I do) inviting a friend to come over some time this week to watch "Pangs" in observance of Thanksgiving, when a mutual friend chimed in with, "Buffy? Sue, you're still watching Buffy??" to which I replied, "So? I watch the Halloween episode on Halloween and I watch the Thanksgiving episode on Thanksgiving. If I were ever to resurrect some ancient evil, I'd probably watch "Inca Mummy Girl" in observance of that!"
My heckler replied in what he no doubt felt was a conciliatory fashion, "Well, you might be a geek, but at least you're not a nerd!" To which I answered, "Let's not be so hasty. I still know the date and time of the Battle of Hastings and I can name all 50 US States in alpha order in less than a minute and the chapters of the New Testament in chronological order in less than 30 seconds."
His rebuttal? "So you're less of a nerd, and more of an annoying 5th grader."
