crazydiamondsue: (will xan love [scintillation])
A bit early but…

Canadians – you’ve already had yours. Brits – I know this must be a particularly annoying time of year for you. Had things gone a bit differently a couple of hundred years ago, James Marsters could have been your countryman. Those of you in island nations – um, Happy America’s Self-Gloating Holiday?

For That Which I Have Received, Let Me Be Truly Thankful

Real Life Thanks

[livejournal.com profile] elcazavampiros. I have the most amazing husband in the world. He shares my love of BtVS and AtS (although *cough* perhaps not to the same level of obsession.) He also does laundry, dishes, washes the dog, cleans the litterbox, makes me surprise icons, randomly decides to make Snickerdoodles, speaks 4 languages (to varying degrees of fluency) and that’s just sexy, is really tall, has a pretty singing voice, sings “Les Mis” while he’s doing dishes, watches “The Mountain” with me and when JM says “innit” like Spike – simultaneously repeats “innit” with me, will let me read aloud what I consider to be particularly stellar passages from my slash stories and (even while wincing at any mention of “lube” or “foreskin”) still manages a, “You’re very talented, honey.” Plus he’s been giving me the big one for the past 13 years.

My best friends Kathy and Michele who both support my writing endeavors and always support me. (And they’ll indulge the BtVS – although Kathy will get distracted by SG-1 and Michele will go on for hours about the hotness that is Bangel – bleah.)

My brother who loves me (and makes more $$$ than I ever will) who makes laugh, as well as surprising me with diamond jewelry on special (and not so special) occasions (even if some of it is kinda ghetto.)

My cats Daisy and Binkley and my dogs Max and Rascal.

I’m also thankful for: Taco Bell bean burritos with sour cream, broccoli, Ding Dongs, red v-neck sweaters, naturally curly hair that I don’t have to buzz cut ‘cause I’m a girl, Jon Stewart, theoretic democracy, William Shakespeare, Joss Whedon, gerbera daisies, big white construction paper snowflakes, monkey patterned sleepwear, Nick Brendon’s eyelashes, my laptop, black demi-cup bras, lip gloss, and 70s cartoons.

Excessive Fandom Love

My BF LJ: [livejournal.com profile] karabair, [livejournal.com profile] stoney321, [livejournal.com profile] adis723, and [livejournal.com profile] anelith who not only make my LJ time more entertaining, but I can also call them up and say, “What’re you doing? And wearing?” when I’m bored. (And mad props to [livejournal.com profile] karabair for siring me to LJ.)

[livejournal.com profile] spikendru who was the first mutual LJ friend I made. And she brought me [livejournal.com profile] paynbow. They make me laugh and want to move to Canada or other parts NE.

[livejournal.com profile] dovil who makes me laugh with every freakin’ post, recs me whenever she gets the chance, makes me wanna ride a motorcycle to NZ just to get drunk and check out her linen closet cum liquor cabinet. She’s the only person to whom I’ve ever fannishly prayed, “Please friend me!” And because she did, I got [livejournal.com profile] stoney321 and [livejournal.com profile] violethamster, who both make me grin.

[livejournal.com profile] darkhavens who encouraged me to post on [livejournal.com profile] bloodclaim which gave me a beta, a flist and a never ending source of awesome Spander. Plus she’s British and cool.

I'm thankful to [livejournal.com profile] tgray who makes my journal pretty and hot (as well as writing lovely things.)

My flist. From my first friends [livejournal.com profile] secondverse, [livejournal.com profile] tabaqui and [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 through my newer and newest ones [livejournal.com profile] reremouse, [livejournal.com profile] _sharvie_, [personal profile] vampirefever, et al, I ♥ you all.
[ETA: I'm also thankful to [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 because in exchange for popping a few commas into her class paper, she wrote me this beyond hot: Spander Party Story.]

Excessant and the Attic and everyone there, especially Lazuli, who is one of the main reasons SMCD made it beyond a chapter.

I wish I could send all of you a big ole bowl of my awesome cornbread dressing (or stuffing, as you Yankees insist on calling it) and a piece of my homemade chocolate pie. Since I can’t – have a big e-snog from me. I’m thankful for you and how great you’ve made the past 5 months.

You probably already know this, but there's a Johnny Cash song called "Sunday Morning Coming Down" did you name SMCD for it? Do you have a copy of it?

Date: 2004-11-22 11:06 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
I did! That title (not necessarily the song) popped into my head one day and I thought, "That'd be a good fic title." After I started writing it, I downloaded a cover of it by a band called Crooked Fingers that's less country (kinda sounds like a more melodic Bob Dylan backed by U2.) The first verse of the song reminds me of the Xander I've written in this story.

I'm also thankful for [livejournal.com profile] brandil and her evocative, nekkid icons. *g*

I love me some nekkid icons. I've got the Johnny
Cash version if you ever want a copy of it.

I have it on...wait for it - LP! Did you have a MP3 file? That would be sooo cool...

I'll try to remember to do a You Send It tonight for you, if not it may be over the weekend.

LP ::grins broadly:: I still have lots of stuff on LP that I haven't ever replaced with CDs. For example: George Michael "Faith", Jody Watley's debut album, Poison "Look What the Cat Dragged In" and Motely Crew's "Girls, Girls, Girls" just to name a very few.

Naturally, my record player doesn't work.

::raises eyebrow at 'island nations':: I can't do that as well as Spike but hey, least I can do it! ::grin:: And awwwwww you have the bestest husband!

And also, oh my God you named it after the Johnny Cash song?! I thought that was a coincidence! ::starts singing:: On a Sunday morning sidewaaaaaaalk wishing Lord that I was stooooooned cause there's something in a Sundaaaaaay makes a body feel aloooone...

Man I love that song. ::sigh::

Date: 2004-11-22 11:27 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] nashmaveric.livejournal.com
::comes back to finish the refrain:: Cause I get compulsive that way.

And there's nothing short of dyyyiiiing quite as lonesome as the souuuuuuuuuuuuund of a sleeepy city sideeewaaaaaaalk, Sunday morning coming dowwwwwwn.

'kay, I'm done now ::grin::

:::You knew who the island nation comment was for, right? And I guess technically, NZ as well...:::

But you weren't supposed to see this yet, cause I just realized that I forgot to say "And I'm grateful to [livejournal.com profile] nashmaveric for her cowboy prompt that caused my flist to double and online strangers to greet me with, Hey - you're the rodeo girl!" LOL.

I was trying to think of a title for it (at the time it was going to just be a ficlet with Spike and Xander meeting at the grave and talking about how Buffy's death had affected them. It, uh, grew.) and the phrase, "Morning's coming down" occurred to me and that made me think of Sunday Morning Coming Down which is just such a sad phrase (and song.) I actually put those lyrics you quoted above it when I gave it to Laz to archive at the Attic.

::Is thankful for Nash and her knowledge of Johnny Cash songs. Most people just know "Ring of Fire" and the cover of "Hurt."::

sings “Les Mis” while he’s doing dishes,

that I can vouch for.

Here's part of our conversation last night, folks:
Me: Is somebody SINGING?
Sue: Oh, that's Caza.
Me: WHAT is he singing?
Sue: Hmm, let me get closer. Oh. . ."Les Miz."

I can't believe I missed JM on "The Mountain"! I thought there'd be more noise about it when it aired. 'S'what I get for unsubscribing to all the Spikegirl themed mailing lists to reduce the size of my friends page. How was he?
**SPOILERS*** Skim this comment if you have not seen JM on "The Mountain" (or don't care)!!!

And, this is just my opinion. I still don't like the buzz cut - I like hair, dammit! I know he's 42 but he just moves so young and looks so young that imagining him as the father of teen(?), young adult(?) - I don't watch the show - was weird. They made him quote Shakespeare (and "Romeo and Juliet" of all hammy things) but he did it with amplomb and restraint. He cried beautifully and really toned it down. He had arm tattoos and hugged his son and cried quietly, so I was happy. The accent still throws me (although it was more generic American and less SoCal) but he really did say, "innit" with Spike's voice and that was amusing. He's a damn attractive man, and too good an actor to be in something this craptastic. They need to cast him as Gambit in X3 and just get over it. I'd love to see him opposite Patrick Stewart. But that's because I'm a huge geek.

I'll tell you what, hop on your motorbike with the water wings fast because we're down to two and half shelves now and you can almost open the door without things rattling. Someday we may even be able to fit a towel in there.

Oh yeah. Nick Brendon's eyelashes. Yeah. Those are nice. And his arms. And I like the way upper lip does that little funny thing it does.

And his smile. And his slightly self-concious laugh (that he gave to Xander.) And that really sexy icon [livejournal.com profile] adis723 has of him smoking...yeah, I'm pretty much just thankful for Nicky. *g*

Oh, you mean this icon *points* Yes, I will be thanking the higher ups for Nicky, his biceps (my Lord, thank you for S7 biceps!) and his eyelashes right before I devour the entire table of food on Thursday.

Hey, stupid pants, yeah you! What do you mean you don't fit. Fit dammit, fit! <--- me on Friday.

And I love you, like in a totally stalker style kind of way.

So, um, whatcha wearin'?
Mmm.. Taco Hell...

Date: 2004-11-22 06:14 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Taco Hell sponsors this journal, you know. So what's your mom making for Thanksgiving? "Food"? :) I will also be giving thanks for S7 biceps and your icon. The Lord understands.

*snogs you back, giving big hug for good measure*

I got the ingredients for your sweet potato casserole, I'm going to make it Thursday morning so you'll kind of be here in spirit.

I thought it was dressing if you cooked it outside the bird, stuffing if it was *stuffed* in the bird. No? I like it either way. Yum.

Date: 2004-11-23 06:39 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Stuffing...dressing. Get stuffed or dress you up in my love? In Oklahoma we calling it dressing no matter where it is. Hee! Actually, the popular thing to do here is to stew or roast a chicken, skin and de-bone it and stir the meat into the dressing and then bake. (Although my granny usually left the bones in, so you could have something to do while you ate it.) I'm telling you - it was like growing up on "The Beverly Hillbillies" on my dad's side of the family.

I will also be making the sweet potato casserole, so we will both be there in spirit. Did you read that story ladycat wrote for me? I asked for S/X at a party, sneaking off for some love on a balcony and almost getting caught, and she wrote me some eye-spinning hotness. Whee!

Date: 2004-11-23 08:15 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] anelith.livejournal.com
I did indeed read that delicious (to continue with the food theme) story! Yowza!

I like the idea of baking the chicken right into the dressing. Maybe that helps it not get too dry, which is often the problem of dressing when cooked outside of the poultry.

I'm getting hungry... It's getting close to lunch time.
