crazydiamondsue: (pimp [twlor])
It's not vain to pimp a story 'cause you were involved in it if it's a story you've pimped previously, right? Yes, please nod along. Thank you.

As I have squeed often in the past, [livejournal.com profile] tgray's "Discoveries" was the first Human AU I ever read, and she made me love it. It's a Spike/Xander set during college. They meet while Spike and Buffy are dating and then things just kinda...explode. Her voices are great, her interactions are amazing and the hotness makes me jealous.

She asked me to write the "dance" scene in this next part, and once I stopped bouncing around the room, I did. If you haven't already been following this story, she's got the previous chapter's linked from this post. It's a tense and twisting tale, so go read.

Discoveries Part 31

First of all, you pimped me again!!!! I'm gonna need to start sending you a percentage or something.

Second of all, I really need to find someone to beta this entire thing from the beginning. I look back at previous chapters and hate so much of it! This story is my baby and I do love it, but there's so much of it that could use help. Trouble is, I keep getting people who say they'll do it but end up being too busy or won't change a damn thing, afraid they'll hurt my feelings or something.
Sorry. Ranting here. Don't mind me.

Third of all, I have an idea we could probably use for a tag fic and thought maybe when you're ready, I can pass it by you. Just let me know.

After I finish Sunday (I know - my answer to everything) I could beta read it for you. I'm not the best beta (that would be [livejournal.com profile] adis723, so you might see if she would be interested. If she's too busy, I wouldn't mind.

Sunday's almost done (and if I hadn't just written silly Spangel smut for [livejournal.com profile] dovil, more of it would be done. What's your idea? I can at least be thinking about it while I finish up SMCD and get on it.

And I'd pimp you every day if I wouldn't be accused of fanwankiness. :)

It was the first human AU I read too, and the first Spuffy, though that was very short-lived thank goodness. *g* It was also one of the first stoires posted in [livejournal.com profile] bloodclaim by someone who was not me. :P

I was stunned to see her post asking if it was okay to put Discoveries in [livejournal.com profile] bloodclaim because she'd seen my 'No Spuffy' rule and didn't want to upset anyone. I squeed because I was already reading it on AFF.net and then calmed down a little and told her she was quite welcome to post. Hee!

Can I just take a minute to tell you how much I love [livejournal.com profile] bloodclaim? It was the first community I joined, and the first place I read "new" Spander. It's also the main reason I have a flist, and, as you know, where I met my beta and good friend [livejournal.com profile] adis723, which is one of my best lj experiences ever. She tells me that bloodclaim is the most interactive community ever (and I can see why - those people are awesome with the fb and encouragement). I'll never forget how supportive you were when I was looking for a place to put my little S/X snark and how welcome you made me feel there. Without bloodclaim, I would have missed out on you, tabaqui, camisha, kimberly_a and scads of other amazing writers. So big smooch and thank you so much.
/excessive love

Now, back to Discoveries, I found it on AFF.net, too, my first trip there and read it because I had heard of Human AU (all negative comments) and wanted to check it out. I got so involved in the story, I tracked tgray down to LJ and timidly knocked at her journal. She was gracious (I won her over with a Princess Bride quote) and became a good friend.

My friends that write in other pairings or fandoms are amazed at how supportive and welcoming the Spander writers are to each other. I explained that it's because we all have a bit of Xander's heart and a lot of Spike's cool. *g*

Thank you!

Honestly, when [livejournal.com profile] literati (then going by another name) asked me if I wanted to take over her unpopulated vampire-centric community [livejournal.com profile] bloodclaim, I wasn't sure whether or not to accept. I wasn't even a member of any communities except that one, and didn't know what I'd do with it, but she persevered and I finally accepted.

And then I panicked. [livejournal.com profile] mpoetess already had [livejournal.com profile] sxandviolence and it didn't seem to get many posts, and I certainly didn't want to step on anyone's toes, but I decided what the heck, and listed every possible variant of s/x in the interests to catch anyone who was looking. And then I started posting. And hoping.

It's more successful than I ever expected and every day I go and check the info page to see if anyone else has joined. *g*

So many wonderful people, you included, have helped make it such a success. And it's nearly a year old! *bounces*

That's a perfect description! And I'm glad our open-arms policy has raised a few eyebrows. Maybe it'll catch on in other pairings/fandoms. Happy writers who get regular fb produce more fic, people! Get a clue! *g*

(I'm drinking coke for the first time in months and I think I'm a bit hyper. *g*)

It is on my list of 'things to do'. I swear! I get alot of recs off your flist. In fact, I lost a link the other day and spent two hours going through your flist looking for it. *sigh*

Just about all of my recs are here on my website (there are a couple of recent ones I need to get up there.) When in doubt, check here: Sue's Rec List.
