I really like the final product (having seen all the versions to get to this point). I especially like the beginning and end shots with Lilah, the scene in the elevator and the "America the Beautiful" focusing on W&H.

I know how much time and effort you put in to making this video and the result is awesome.

Love you.

You just made my lip quiver. It's funny that, feedback for fic was always, "yay! thanks! Yes, yes, I'm awesome!" but vid feedback makes me tremble in gratitude. Heh.

Thanks baby. 'Specially for the help and not screaming at having to hear LIL over. And over. And over.

Work is oppressing me! I mean, it won't let me download. The page is blocked because of games. Games, Sue!

I will dld later and watch at home.

Your work IS oppressive. Run by a bunch of numb cunts, I'd say. Hahhaha!

Ooo! Yay! I hope you like it - I'm really trying to learn how to do it now, and not just slap clips to music. :) (I did this one THREE times. Which is sad, considering it's limited fandom appeal. *sniff*)

I read Lynne's A/S fic yesterday (which was gorgeous!) and wrote about 500 words on that A/X Scotland fic I've promised you forever. I know. I'm a fic tease. Maybe I should call you and act it out over the phone...Max could play all the other parts...:)

Heee, you know it!

That's very cool, the whole learning process and refining what you're doing. It sounds neat!

Oh man, that's so on my to-read list (which is way, way too long, because I lose at keeping up with fic right now).

YAYE! Scotland feeek! Whenever you end up working on it/posting it, I'm totally going to be thrilled. :D

Max is probably an awesome actor! You could say, "But here we are, in this small Scottish town, confronting our feelings for one another!" and Max could cock his head to the side and say, "Baroooo?"

That was awesome!! I love the clip you used for the line "I hear the USSR will be open soon"--which just happens to be my favorite line in the whole song. :) The Connor/Angel scenes were terrific, and the Wes/Lilah scenes nearly made me tear up. She really did love him--as much as an evil soulless thing can love anyone. *sniffle*

One thing, though: the audio sounded a bit muffled on my computer. Did it sound that way on yours?

Excellent job, Sue, really.

Date: 2006-11-08 05:30 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Yay for the USSR! Er, the clip, that is. And that fact that Stephanie Romanov's name is obviously, well, you know, made me very happy. That's one of my favorite lines, too (other than "While Jesus slaves" - and I loved that pic of Angel there.)

I had to work so many of these clips hard, since I was only using the one ep (the few scenes from "Home" - and a cheat on the Beast from another - aside) and that scene of Angel and Connor is split into about four parts, slowed down, sped up, you name it. I'm still not happy with it, personally, but I finally gave up in the name of getting this done.

My audio sounds fine? I dl'd it at work (shhh!) too, to make sure, and it sounds okay to me. The bass is a bit heavier at the beginning and the song is edited (Caza did it, and I can't even remember how the original goes now) but otherwise sounds clear? Hmm. I can yousendit a copy to you to see if that works better?

I'm so glad you liked this! Caza was annoyed with me the THIRD time I re-worked it (since I figured you and Joy would be the only people who watched it - heh) but I really wanted to get it as clean as possible. Oh, and I really like Connor flying through the air to the "Ah-ah"'s. :)

By the way, your fic inspired me, and I wrote 200 words last night! Random: where could I find a good Connor icon?

Wow, I enjoyed this so much! All that devious plotting of W&H tied to mom and apple pie is perfect, perfect, perfect. And I especially liked the inclusion of the white room scenes.

But oh, Connor, Connor... you belong to everyone and no one. *weeps*

Date: 2006-11-08 06:07 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Yay! Yeah, I knew I was going to use the White Room for "we've even got the moon," but then I realized how perfect "Washington, The Capitol" was and, well.

Poor, poor Connor. I don't know whether to hug him, kick him in the shin or bite those lips...mmm. Thanks babe!

Hi there! I was finally freed up from boring work to dl this and enjoy it. The whole Jackson Brown - Connor thing just continues to amaze, does it not? I'd forgotten about this song!

Not only is the song title perfect for Lilah/Wesley, but the opening few lines were so totally suited for Connor. And that "strangled" moment with Lilah. Heh.

I also liked the shot of "the dutiful" Angel gang. And how you paired the line about the Russians escaping with the shot of the moment when Lilah was escaping through the sewers. Very well done.

AtS is such a cinematic show, more so than BtVS. I should think that would make for more interesting vidding.

Date: 2006-11-08 09:26 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Oh, I'm so glad you like! For some reason, I always loved this song, even though I was 13 when it came out, and I didn't really get it.

Heee! Eddie loved the strangled moment. :) Dutiful was one of my faves. And you know me with my name thing, I really loved that Stephanie Romanov (Lilah)'s name is Russian. :)

Oh, yes. I don't remember who I was telling, but as much as I was only interested in doing fic for BtVS, I'm only really interested in doing vids for AtS. I'm an odd, odd duck.

YOU ARE A GENIUS!

The character shots in the beginning were so perfectly timed.
And then Connor/Cordy, to the lyric "going down" just kinda gave me a sporfle. It works in more ways than one!
And the "strangled cries" was so written for this.
It really is Connor POV-y! Like, 'cause, he really is *outside* of everything, not really about to fit in with normal humans. In their designer jeans. But the rest of the song is like he's watching the rest unfold. And trying to understand. So perfect!

HAHAHHAA The beast is a spaceship.
I love love loved the "dutiful" shot, too!

All the timing and cutting on the break is so perfect, too! Like, the part with Connor hitting the pillar slo mo and then falling, that was awesome timing with the music that was playing. And Angel hitting the elevator buttons--that was possibly my favorite part. You cut it so perfectly. With the big button on top for the high climax part of that riff. HAHAHA.

And Washington, Capital -->Whitehouse--> white room. That was genius.
And yeah, I was laughing so hard at the Russian part 'cause of "Romanov". And 'cause she *did* sneaky escape it was just so perfect.
And I love the USSR open line, too. Oh, Wolfram and Hart. That was hilarious.

And the beginning and end, with Lilah watching the rain of fire, made me so sad. And lots of the Wesley bits made me sad. I love how yeah, the 80s cynicism really does fit their relationship.

This was really wonderful, Sue. I'm not just saying that because MY NAME IS ON THE END, OMGYAY!!!!!!!, but because it really is a nice character vid that did some clever clever things. You're really talented with the vid stuff, and you just keep getting better.

Thanks so much. You a la mode my pie.

Date: 2006-11-09 02:23 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Yay! I'm so glad you liked this - it was a crazy idea, but it amazed me how well the lyrics (and music) actually worked for that episode.

And yeah, I had a "heh-heh" to the going down part, too. Strangled cries was harder than hell to work, because Lilah and Connor are talking through that whole scene. But it was so perfect! And the designer jeans...c'mon, you could just feel Connor's eyeroll.

Hah! Well, the Powers that Be did kind of send the beast, and you know, he was all buried in the earth like those spaceships in "War of the Worlds..." Meta is funny!

That elevator scene was also hard because that scene is so chopped up. But the music sounds so 80s video game and Angel's pushing all those buttons...*is literal*

Oh, yeah. The White Room and Russians were two of the first things I thought of. I was hoping people would remember Lilah sneaking away at that point.

Lilah looks so trapped in that last shot, doesn't she? And I really liked the end seguing from the flames in front of her face as Wesley tries to burn the perpetuity clause back to the rain of fire.

And thank you so much for the wonderful feedback - and for the Jackson/Connor post that started the whole thing. :)

Oh, and a few AtS recs for you:

oh, that's an awesome vid! Glad I finally got to watch it.

Like everybody I loved Lilah escaping like Russians do (esp. b/c in Alias fandom there's a pet theory that Lilah is sekritly part of the evil Russian sisterhood in that 'verse).

I also really liked the Fred/Gunn bits and the way that you had the gang onscreen for the word "dutiful".

So great!

I'm also amused that you're reccing fics I tend to forget I wrote (esp. the Nina story!)

Wow, it has been ages since I heard that song! I have to admit though it's nice to see a vid with Connor as a main character that isn't completely angst ridden though. There have been some great ones made but, yeah, nice change of pace.

Date: 2006-11-09 02:52 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
That is an old one, isn't it? A long, long time ago, back when when people used cassette tapes, I taped the greatest songs of 1983 off of a radio broadcast. I listened to that tape for years. I was 13 when that song came out, so it didn't really reasonate for me, but as I got older, I got it.

When [livejournal.com profile] tkp made her "Connor looks like Jackson Browne!" post, I laughingly told her that I'd vid "Habeas Corpses" to "Lawyers in Love" and she said, "Hey.." and I thought, "Hey..." *g* It was fun to put him in a narrator role, rather than a reactive one. Thanks!

back when when people used cassette tapes

Tell me about it. We just bought a new car and could not get one with a tape deck. Best Buy sells only one car stereo that has a tape player. Mike tapes games streamed over the Internet and likes to listen to them in the cars but we've had to resort to a wireless adaptor thing (haven't tested it yet). ::see icon::

And I've decided I'm going to get one of these Buffy girls in my program to do an AtS rewatch with me December vaca...which is when I get to like breathe again.

Date: 2006-11-09 05:18 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
We're scary like that, aren't we?

Oh, yes. I've been watching a lot of AtS lately (mostly for ripping clips) and Caza's working on a project that isolates whole arcs in vid form (well, not set to music, but like "The Turning of Angel" with all the clips from BtVS and AtS in one neat file) so there's been lots of not fading away going on. And yeah, when you catch your breath, it's not a bad way to spend the break.

Date: 2006-11-09 05:00 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com
That was wonderful. I especially loved the opening shots, especially the one with Lilah. She looked so heartbroken. And I forgot how girly Connor looks from the back.

And the shot of Angel coming down with the sword when the line "While Jesus slaves" pretty much sums him up. And Lilah at the beginning and end with the rain of fire - this is what being a lawyer in love gets you in the end.

Now I'm in the mood for some Jackson Browne.

Date: 2006-11-09 05:19 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Yay! Thank you so much. Yeah, I love Lilah's expression there, all alone in her office, highlighted by the fire. And Connor's got one hot chick bod. And lips. And hair.

It took me forever to decide on a "While Jesus slaves" clip, because there's not a lot of Angel heroic in that ep that isn't all green with the W&H hazard lights. But I'm glad that worked!

I've been in a Jackson Browne loop since [livejournal.com profile] tkp's post.

Date: 2006-11-09 09:10 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kattahj.livejournal.com
*grin* I got giggly just seeing the description, since I made a post a couple of weeks ago about random vids ideas I was never going to make, and one of them was W&H to "Lawyers in Love".

That said, fabulous vid. Great Connor, great Lilah, and some really smart clip choices.

Date: 2006-11-09 10:44 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
That's awesome! There could be a great Lilah vid alone to that song, but I had to work in the Connor/Jackson Browne thing. :)

Thanks so much for the feedback - especially the clip choices.

What other random ideas did you have? (Asks the person who just started a Fred/Angel, Fred/Gunn, Fred/Wes vid set to the country song "I Try to Think About Elvis"...)

Date: 2006-11-10 06:05 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kattahj.livejournal.com
*goes back to check LJ post*

These were the other ones I posted about. As I said then, most of them were thought up at the spot and half of them make no sense.

Dean Winchester to "Don't Fence Me In" with Ella Fitzgerald.

Multi-fandom death scenes to "We Will All Go Together When We Go" with Tom Lehrer.

Captain Jack or multi-fandom to "A Bear in a Lady's Boudoir" with Cliff Edwards.

Aragorn/various to "Fairy Story" with the Brobdingnagian Bards.

Ike McSwain to "Catch the Moon" with Stefan Andersson.

House/someone to "Goodness Gracious Me" with Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren.

House/someone to "Goodness Gracious Me" with Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren. I'd watch that. I'd watch that with pants on.

While I'm still in the learning stages (and still struggling with Windows Movie Maker) I'm doing the "on a whim" vids, figuring they're sort of a wink, anyway, right? I'm working on a Fred vid to "I Try to Think About Elvis" right now, and I typically don't care for the country music vids. Although, for her, it works...

Date: 2006-11-16 03:08 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] lettered.livejournal.com
Hi! I'm TKMommy! I loved your video - how much more appropriate could a song be? Especially with Connor's look alike singing it. Or is it the other way around . . . . since obviously Connor post dates Jackson. I loved Joy's montage too - I love how you both took the concept and ran with it!

Date: 2006-11-17 04:00 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com
Connor's look-alike was truly inspired - you've got a great eye. I don't know why I never noticed it before...although Joy found some incredibly eerie photographic proof. And thank you so much for watching - that one was utterly fun to make!
