tkp. AtS filtered through 80s cynicism. Um, Connor is Jackson Browne?
Warnings: "Habeas Corpses" is a visually dark ep (what with all the night vision lighting) so a few of the clips are bit...er...green.

Date: 2006-11-08 04:42 pm (UTC)From:Ooo! Yay! I hope you like it - I'm really trying to learn how to do it now, and not just slap clips to music. :) (I did this one THREE times. Which is sad, considering it's limited fandom appeal. *sniff*)
I read Lynne's A/S fic yesterday (which was gorgeous!) and wrote about 500 words on that A/X Scotland fic I've promised you forever. I know. I'm a fic tease. Maybe I should call you and act it out over the phone...Max could play all the other parts...:)

Date: 2006-11-08 04:52 pm (UTC)From:That's very cool, the whole learning process and refining what you're doing. It sounds neat!
Oh man, that's so on my to-read list (which is way, way too long, because I lose at keeping up with fic right now).
YAYE! Scotland feeek! Whenever you end up working on it/posting it, I'm totally going to be thrilled. :D
Max is probably an awesome actor! You could say, "But here we are, in this small Scottish town, confronting our feelings for one another!" and Max could cock his head to the side and say, "Baroooo?"

Excellent job, Sue, really.

Date: 2006-11-08 05:30 pm (UTC)From:I had to work so many of these clips hard, since I was only using the one ep (the few scenes from "Home" - and a cheat on the Beast from another - aside) and that scene of Angel and Connor is split into about four parts, slowed down, sped up, you name it. I'm still not happy with it, personally, but I finally gave up in the name of getting this done.
My audio sounds fine? I dl'd it at work (shhh!) too, to make sure, and it sounds okay to me. The bass is a bit heavier at the beginning and the song is edited (Caza did it, and I can't even remember how the original goes now) but otherwise sounds clear? Hmm. I can yousendit a copy to you to see if that works better?
I'm so glad you liked this! Caza was annoyed with me the THIRD time I re-worked it (since I figured you and Joy would be the only people who watched it - heh) but I really wanted to get it as clean as possible. Oh, and I really like Connor flying through the air to the "Ah-ah"'s. :)
By the way, your fic inspired me, and I wrote 200 words last night! Random: where could I find a good Connor icon?

Date: 2006-11-08 07:40 pm (UTC)From:Not only is the song title perfect for Lilah/Wesley, but the opening few lines were so totally suited for Connor. And that "strangled" moment with Lilah. Heh.
I also liked the shot of "the dutiful" Angel gang. And how you paired the line about the Russians escaping with the shot of the moment when Lilah was escaping through the sewers. Very well done.
AtS is such a cinematic show, more so than BtVS. I should think that would make for more interesting vidding.

Date: 2006-11-08 09:26 pm (UTC)From:Heee! Eddie loved the strangled moment. :) Dutiful was one of my faves. And you know me with my name thing, I really loved that Stephanie Romanov (Lilah)'s name is Russian. :)
Oh, yes. I don't remember who I was telling, but as much as I was only interested in doing fic for BtVS, I'm only really interested in doing vids for AtS. I'm an odd, odd duck.

Date: 2006-11-08 11:41 pm (UTC)From:The character shots in the beginning were so perfectly timed.
And then Connor/Cordy, to the lyric "going down" just kinda gave me a sporfle. It works in more ways than one!
And the "strangled cries" was so written for this.
It really is Connor POV-y! Like, 'cause, he really is *outside* of everything, not really about to fit in with normal humans. In their designer jeans. But the rest of the song is like he's watching the rest unfold. And trying to understand. So perfect!
HAHAHHAA The beast is a spaceship.
I love love loved the "dutiful" shot, too!
All the timing and cutting on the break is so perfect, too! Like, the part with Connor hitting the pillar slo mo and then falling, that was awesome timing with the music that was playing. And Angel hitting the elevator buttons--that was possibly my favorite part. You cut it so perfectly. With the big button on top for the high climax part of that riff. HAHAHA.
And Washington, Capital -->Whitehouse--> white room. That was genius.
And yeah, I was laughing so hard at the Russian part 'cause of "Romanov". And 'cause she *did* sneaky escape it was just so perfect.
And I love the USSR open line, too. Oh, Wolfram and Hart. That was hilarious.
And the beginning and end, with Lilah watching the rain of fire, made me so sad. And lots of the Wesley bits made me sad. I love how yeah, the 80s cynicism really does fit their relationship.
This was really wonderful, Sue. I'm not just saying that because MY NAME IS ON THE END, OMGYAY!!!!!!!, but because it really is a nice character vid that did some clever clever things. You're really talented with the vid stuff, and you just keep getting better.
Thanks so much. You a la mode my pie.

Date: 2006-11-09 02:23 am (UTC)From:And yeah, I had a "heh-heh" to the going down part, too. Strangled cries was harder than hell to work, because Lilah and Connor are talking through that whole scene. But it was so perfect! And the designer jeans...c'mon, you could just feel Connor's eyeroll.
Hah! Well, the Powers that Be did kind of send the beast, and you know, he was all buried in the earth like those spaceships in "War of the Worlds..." Meta is funny!
That elevator scene was also hard because that scene is so chopped up. But the music sounds so 80s video game and Angel's pushing all those buttons...*is literal*
Oh, yeah. The White Room and Russians were two of the first things I thought of. I was hoping people would remember Lilah sneaking away at that point.
Lilah looks so trapped in that last shot, doesn't she? And I really liked the end seguing from the flames in front of her face as Wesley tries to burn the perpetuity clause back to the rain of fire.
And thank you so much for the wonderful feedback - and for the Jackson/Connor post that started the whole thing. :)
Oh, and a few AtS recs for you:

Date: 2006-11-10 09:58 pm (UTC)From:Like everybody I loved Lilah escaping like Russians do (esp. b/c in Alias fandom there's a pet theory that Lilah is sekritly part of the evil Russian sisterhood in that 'verse).
I also really liked the Fred/Gunn bits and the way that you had the gang onscreen for the word "dutiful".
So great!
I'm also amused that you're reccing fics I tend to forget I wrote (esp. the Nina story!)

Date: 2006-11-09 05:18 am (UTC)From:Oh, yes. I've been watching a lot of AtS lately (mostly for ripping clips) and Caza's working on a project that isolates whole arcs in vid form (well, not set to music, but like "The Turning of Angel" with all the clips from BtVS and AtS in one neat file) so there's been lots of not fading away going on. And yeah, when you catch your breath, it's not a bad way to spend the break.

Date: 2006-11-09 05:00 am (UTC)From:And the shot of Angel coming down with the sword when the line "While Jesus slaves" pretty much sums him up. And Lilah at the beginning and end with the rain of fire - this is what being a lawyer in love gets you in the end.
Now I'm in the mood for some Jackson Browne.

Date: 2006-11-09 05:19 am (UTC)From:It took me forever to decide on a "While Jesus slaves" clip, because there's not a lot of Angel heroic in that ep that isn't all green with the W&H hazard lights. But I'm glad that worked!
I've been in a Jackson Browne loop since

What other random ideas did you have? (Asks the person who just started a Fred/Angel, Fred/Gunn, Fred/Wes vid set to the country song "I Try to Think About Elvis"...)

Date: 2006-11-10 06:05 pm (UTC)From:These were the other ones I posted about. As I said then, most of them were thought up at the spot and half of them make no sense.
Dean Winchester to "Don't Fence Me In" with Ella Fitzgerald.
Multi-fandom death scenes to "We Will All Go Together When We Go" with Tom Lehrer.
Captain Jack or multi-fandom to "A Bear in a Lady's Boudoir" with Cliff Edwards.
Aragorn/various to "Fairy Story" with the Brobdingnagian Bards.
Ike McSwain to "Catch the Moon" with Stefan Andersson.
House/someone to "Goodness Gracious Me" with Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren.

Date: 2006-11-10 06:18 pm (UTC)From:While I'm still in the learning stages (and still struggling with Windows Movie Maker) I'm doing the "on a whim" vids, figuring they're sort of a wink, anyway, right? I'm working on a Fred vid to "I Try to Think About Elvis" right now, and I typically don't care for the country music vids. Although, for her, it works...
