Oh, Christ, not another ficathon! Or so you say. *nods sagely* But this one's different. Really. Oh, just keep reading:
brandil and I decided to marry two of our loves: Xander and Classic Country Music to create: Music of Pain - a Xander ficathon. All Xander. Any Xander. Slash. Het. Gen. Character study. Haiku. We don't care - as long as it's Xander and it's based on a classic country song. "But...country blows! I don't know any country songs!" you cry. Well, how kind of
brandil and me to provide you with titles and lyrics, then.
I have a problem with authori-tay. How many times have you signed up for a ficathon wanting to write Spike/Xander or Spike/Faith and you got...Ethan/Andrew. (No offense to you Ethan/Andrew 'shippers, God love ya.) So. No requests. No squicks lists. No "I'd never write in a million years..." provisos.
The Rules
1) The fic must include Xander as a main character.
2) The fic must be based on one of the songs below or a classic country song of your choice.
3) The song DOES NOT have to feature in the fic text or title. I'm not asking you to write song fic. Just take elements or moods or themes from the song and do something cool with Xander.
4) Post a comment below with your pairing (Xander/?) or Xander/character study and the song of your choice. Please skim the (hopefully) tens of comments below and try to vary song choices. I'm not saying we won't read several Xander fics based on "I Fall to Pieces" (because we know he loves him some Patsy) but variety is sweet, yo.
Sign-Ups: May 10 - May 31
Fics Due: July 11
Drop-Outs: If you drop out, I will spam your LJ with the lyrics to "Bandy the Rodeo Clown." Just watch me. Okay, you can drop out. But I'll pout in a that country way I do so well.
