She’s gone and I don’t know if I did all of that just for her or because it was the right thing to do but it doesn’t matter, because now I don’t even know what the right thing is. Yep. That was the whole theme of the story for me.
I hesitated on making Xander cry. I've got no problem with dudes crying (hello Spike!) but we never see Xander cry in canon, although we know he does. I thought that Buffy's death would be so painful that he couldn't bear the thought of crying, and was internalizing everything. There's a lot of Season-6 Buffy in my Xander here, I'll admit it. He could tell Spike, because he didn't think Spike would care while he felt that he had to be strong for Anya, Willow and Dawn.
