This was a great chapter -- here's just one bit that jumped out at me:
...for Giles and the sadness and anger and quiet joy he’d felt at his leaving and not having to be answerable anymore.
I'd never thought about how Xander might feel that last emotion, but it makes so much sense.
And I've read variations on this "first time" scene between Xander and Spike so many times, but this has got to be one of my favorites, if not my favorite. Hard to pinpoint why, but it's just seems very tender, even if the participants involved wouldn't see it that way.
