Your comment about feeling like you're reading a Buffy episode will having me squeeing for days, deserved or not. Just sayin'. :)
I'd never attempted to write Anya before this, so I watched the scene from...it think it's "Flooded" when Anya confronts Xander about not telling everyone about their engagement. I really tried to get that Anya - angry and frustrated, and there's a bit of "Entropy" Anya in there as well. I suck with numbers, so I had to ask Caza what the percentage difference was between 90 minutes and 120, 'cause I felt like Anya would know. Hah!
And the explanation for the hellmouth-Slayer connection is really painful (but again good!). It makes so much sense in the show's mythology which includes things about the balance between good and evil, so it follows that an increase in goodness would increase the badness. That's perfect and gorgeous and I wish I'd thought of it! Hee! The "slayer exascerbates the Hellmouth" theory was just some bit of meta I threw in to explain why Sunnydale kicked it up when Buffy arrived and why Giles felt justified in leaving Willow & Xander in charge. He never explicitly states that Willow and Xander are in charge, but there's no mention of who's going to fight the vamps and stop the apocalyse(s), is there? I started to not like it after a few chapters, and no one ever commented on it, so I thought that no one noticed. :) But then you left a lovely reasoning for it (love the good/evil balance) and tkp noted that LA kicked up once Faith was in prison, there too. I'm smart! Heee!
The Spike/Xander "sometimes men just fuck" scene is the only time I've ever found my own writing hot. Writing erotic stresses me out, and reading my own bores me (I ususally skim it) but I do think that bit is hot. And thank you for catching the dropped word! (I'm terrible about that. Continues...
