I was commenting to my TV addict husband that I don't think of myself as someone who watches A LOT of TV, because I read more than I watch and I always seem to have time to dick around on Pinterest or talk on the phone for hours and therefore am obviously not a huge TV nerd. Lies, damn lies. So I work 40 hours a week at a college, take care of a 5 year old boy who is reading (Eeee!!) and cook from scratch and listen and offer support to my friends as they plan weddings and college majors and possible children and huge life decisions, all the while maintaing a head of thick(ish) curly hair, giving my husband something he can feel and reading a shit-ton of "Teen Wolf" AUs. And yet I watch:

1) How I Met Your Mother
2) Modern Family
3) Raising Hope
4) Nashville
5) The Big Bang Theory
6) Supernatural
7) American Horror Story
8) Agents of Shield (!!!)
9) New Girl
10) Teen Wolf
11) Breaking Bad
12) Mad Men
13) Game of Thrones
14) The Walking Dead
15) Downton Abbey

Granted, most of those shows are staggered by hiatus, so I don't I don't feel like I'm watching *that* much in any given season. There are also shows I watch when Caza's watching them (True Blood, Wilfred, Warehouse 13, etc) that I don't *count* as watching, because I don't ask him to pause the DVR if I have to pee, and I'm usually either looking at pics on Tumblr or reading a magazine while he's watching it.

The Game, however, is this: CAN YOU BEAT IT? While I feel I have a light-nerd-typical amount of TV watching, I think Caza may be the Big Kahuna, especially given his RL to TV time ratio. CAN YOU OUT NERD CAZA???

The Rules:

Your RL work load must correspond (subjectively) to Caza's.

Caza's workload:

  • 40 hours a week, 50% college professor, 50% associate dean of Humanities

  • Final semester of PhD coursework, taking dissertation writing class two nights a week

  • 50% care of 1 five year old son who needs assistance with bathing, dressing and lunch packing every day, plus 30 minutes of reading (to him and listening to him) every night, plus trying slot all the time you can with him because you work 40 hours a week and he goes to bed at 8:30 (a really needy pet would suffice)

  • A spouse who talks ALL THE TIME and expects sex on demand

  • 50% of the housework/laundry (hand wash dishes only), 100% of the pet care (2 dogs, 1 cat) and 100% of the lawn care

  • And *drum roll* Caza's impressive TV schedule:

    Shows he watches regularly

    1. American Horror Story
    2. Arrow
    3. Bates Motel
    4. Big Bang Theory
    5. Bones
    6. Downton Abbey
    7. Dr. Who
    8. Falling Skies
    9. Game of Thrones
    10. Glee
    11. Haven
    12. How I Met Your Mother
    13. Mad Men
    14. Modern Family
    15. New Girl
    16. Once Upon a Time
    17. Parenthood
    18. Psych
    19. Raising Hope
    20. Revolution
    21. Supernatural
    22. Teen Wolf (thanks for adding to my full dance card)
    23. The Walking Dead
    24. True Blood
    25. Under the Dome
    26. Warehouse 13
    27. Wilfred

New Shows that he will try
    28. Agents of SHIELD
    29. Back in the Game (maybe - It has Juliette from Psych in it)
    30. Brooklyn Nine-nine
    31. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
    32. The Crazy Ones
    33. The Tomorrow People

Shows stuck in his DVR that he will watch soon
    34. Broadchurch – In DVR
    35. The White Queen – In DVR waiting

    So...can you beat him?

Haha, I will not in any way ATTEMPT to be Caza.

I dropped most of the shows I was watching going into this season because while I didn't feel really strongly about dropping any of them, I didn't feel very strongly about WATCHING them either.

So currently my load is Parks and Rec, Parenthood, Elementary + Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Veep and Downton Abbey whenever they come back. I will probably pick up Agents of SHIELD and MAYBE Once Upon a Time when it comes back as well.

Once Upon a Time is also one I watch if I'm in the room and Caza is watching it. Parks and Rec is on my Netflix to-mainline queue. I have to give up Veep because it conflicted with...something and I felt overwhelmed. I don't *have* to watch anything but Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey and, LOL, it's true, Teen Wolf.

I keep not listing Teen Wolf among the shows I watch but. . .still watching it (and then you and I get to have great phone calls about it \o/)

I made Eddie watch the whole thing over the past few weeks, so now he has to watch in Feb, too!!! That fandom is seriously addicted to coffee shop AUs. It's weird.

I can beat him if you count the bazillion hours I spend mindlessly watching HGTV every day. Otherwise I'm terrible about watching regular TV. I'm completely addicted to SPN (mostly RPF) fic, but I'm such a bad fangirl that I still haven't managed to watch the season 8 finale. At least we finally got to delete it from the DVR because we now have it on blu-ray.

Incidentally, Tuesday is a terrible night for TV watching for me as I have regular meetings 3 out of 4 Tuesdays a month. What are the only two shows I intend to watch? SPN and Agents of Shield, both on Tuesday night. *headdesk*

You *must* watch the finale because there's something I have to tell you about it.

I'm annoyed about SPN on Tues, too, but then, I was annoyed when they moved from Thursdays, period.

    He wins! Hands down.

I'm watching (in order of them popping into my head) Suits, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Wilfred, Walking Dead, Bones, Once Upon a Time, Elementary, Glee, The Bridge, Castle, Arrow, South Park, Project Runway, Top Chef and Top Chef Masters, American Horror Story, Parenthood, The Mentalist, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, all the House Hunters, all the World Cup qualifying soccer and a couple baseball games a week.

I'm looking forward to watching Brooklyn nine nine, Agents of SHIELD. I have to look and see what The Crazy Ones is about because I like the title and am just that easy!

He really is a machine. He was worse before we had a child, he has seriously cut down.

Brooklyn Nine Nine also looks good, but I am so bad about remembering to watch shows unless I'm addicted. I used to watch hockey, but after the strike last season, I fell out of the habit. I am sooo ready for new TV.

And I somehow forgot hockey! The mister watches sports and South Park and Walking Dead. That's it. He thinks most television shows are boring and ridiculous (though he doesn't ridicule me for liking so many). We're just wired differently.

I'm not addicted to anything right now. TV's just entertaining. I miss the immersion in fandom that comes with being obsessed with a show.

I cannot match either of ya'll's workload, partly because kidlet trumps most things. Looks like Caza is interested in the same new shows as I am though.
