Okay, I think I have 3 friends still posting here, LOL. Luckily, it's 3 friends I really like. So this is my new thing. Obsessive and weird, or genius?
This morning my hold on "The King's Assassin" (source material for George & Mary) released on my Libby app. Should I include pro fic reads with fan fic? Hmm.
I'm still occasionally writing in all my old fandoms - I never really put any of them down, you know? And I've consistently done Yuletide every year since 2005, so there's always at least one new small fandom a year. I have been so short on free time that I've not been writing as much in the last few years as I used to, though. I'm hoping my schedule will finally ease up this year so I can have more creative time.
Yay for Yuletide! I've been a steady reader, but the last thing I wrote were 2 fics for Supernatural a couple of years ago.
I signed up to write for a Drarry fic-a-thon this month, but I'm struggling because now I've hit a wall with HP and I'm mainlining Sherlock. I read and re-read a few of your fics when I did my pre-2010 recs and <3.
Oh yes - if it weren't for Yuletide I wouldn't have written much in those lean pandemic years. It was a hard time for me creatively, so I appreciated the motivation.
Is it at all possible to do a mash-up for the Drarry fic-a-thon? Say, Draco and Harry as Sherlock and Moriarty or something? That might help.
Awww, that's a nice thought! I still feel pretty good about my early fannish work.
That's pretty cool! I have the memory of a goldfish so I couldn't tell you what I read yesterday let alone a few weeks ago.
I've been transferring most of my bookmarks from Pinboard to AO3 recently. And going through these old links from previous fandoms, seeing all the familiar titles and authors, is making me so nostalgic!
The nice thing about reading on AO3 is that I just have to go to my History or Bookmarks to see. But while I've kept track of pro fic I read, I don't typically keep track of fan fic. Turns out I read a lot, haha.
Oh nice from Pinboard! I know, I'm wallowing in nostalgia. If you do any re-reads, I'd be happy to chat about them.
I am struggling with a combination of menopausal depression, middle aged boredom, and my friends' interests drifting to things I don't care about (why do middle aged southern women get so into football?!) and I need to talk to grownups. I tried to talking to HP fans on Reddit, but goddman they're young and SO black and white about their opinions.
I'm so happy to see a post from you! I see below that you are also having the menopausal depression. It blows!
How are Caza and the kiddo? (Not sure if mentioning RL names is okay here.)
Emma is now Dylan and using they/them pronouns. They are graduating undergrad at the end of the summer and starting grad school in the fall. Fiona is in fifth grade. I am ancient. LOL
Oh, dear Lord. I thought you were starting grad school and I was like don't you already have all the degrees?? Hahaha I tell the post-delivery "Mrs. Lunabee?" "It's Dr. Lunabee, actually" story all the time at work. Dylan is almost a college grad!!! Wee Fiona. She should be a bebe.
Eddie is good -- he's currently at "Wicked" tour with his parents and sis. Jonah and I saw it last week. Eddie's also working on his textbook for next Fall (Latin Amer Hum). He's about to start rehearsals for a comedy called "It Runs in the Family."
Jonah is a sophomore and already enrolled for Junior year, sob. He's taking the ACT and SAT this summer as well as driver's ed. He's currently rehearsing the musical "Honk!" where he has the male lead. Catholic school has been good for him, go figure. They're fare more sane than the fundies around these parts.
I'm boring, menopausal, and hiding in fan fic.
I hope you're feeling better! The last time we chatted you were not doing great. *smish*
Oh, my god, no. There will never be any more going to school for me. LOL
Awwww, Jonah should be a bebe, too. You'll be sending him off to college in five minutes, Sue. I'm glad he and Eddie are doing well.
It's a mixed bag for me. My health is not great, and I'm struggling with that. We're dealing with elder care issues with Josh's parents. But my career is going amazingly for me LOL.
What about you? The last time you posted, you'd had some really serious health issues.
Hi; long time no see! I have been lurking on DW for several weeks, posting comments here and there but haven't gotten around to posting on my own page - guess I should do that soon, eh? ;)
Anyway, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who tracks their fanfic reading (I use Airtable, but I'm the kind of weirdo who uses relational databases because they suit my brain better than a spreadsheet)!
