Just FYI, I'm in a manic Supernatural fannish spiral at the moment, haha. It's saving me from perimenopause, pandemic malaise, worry about finding a high school for J next year, and job burn out.

It's good to see posts from you again. :)
Does J have to switch schools? And I hear you on job burnout. The pandemic has taught me that I could just happily never leave my house again which is not something I ever thought I'd be able to say.

He does. His current school only goes through 8th grade, and he's just started the second semester of 7th. We were hoping his friends Nina & Adela would go to this little place we liked called the Academy of Classical Christian Studies, but their parents are both educators (she teaches at Jonah's school, he's a prof at UCO) and they live in a suburb with a good public high school, so it's just more economically feasible for them to go the public school route. Now we're back at square one. We'll look at Classical Studies more, but we're also considering home schooling. We are not in a position to move, and the HS in our district is just underfunded and understaffed. Oklahoma is hemorrhaging teachers like whoa during the pandemic.
Not being a racist nor a hardcore Christian (just a lite one), I never considered homeschooling, but if I could get him into a good cooperative for math and higher science, I could certainly handle the liberal arts aspects. He's done with the idea, but we've got a little time.
Yeah, homeschooling has the advantage of solving both the job burnout AND the cost of Jonah's preferred Christian school curriculum.

And he's old enough that it wouldn't be a huge chore to teach him. I mean, the thought of trying to teach someone to read is horribly daunting, but introducing an older kid who's already reading to some good books could be fun.
