I am a Buffyverse fan, and have been since 2004. I tried to keep a fandom only journal at herald_reader. I failed. This is my all things journal, and it is only partially friends-locked; all fan fiction and fandom posts are unlocked and open for discussion. My family posts and anything I find terribly personal (which is not much) are locked. I do regularly post picspam of everything from my baby to my hair, but those posts are always locked and I utilize the LJ-cut religiously.

I don't take myself seriously. I have several LJ friends that have become RL friends, and over the years I've built a pretty tight friends list, so I tend to talk about fandom, myself, life and whatnot (life is not whatnot) in a breezy, chatty manner. People new to my journal might often feel like Jonathan in "Earshot" and think to themselves, "Why are you talking to me like we're friends?" Yeah, I can't help that. I'm from Oklahoma and my family is from the south: we encumber you with hospitality.

Fannish me is all over the Buffyverse board. I read het, femslash, slash, gen fic, AU, parody...but not crossovers. Everybody's got their somethin'. Writing-wise I have written everything from meta-fic to multi-chap angst to Human AU to total crack and out-and-out "I meant to do that!" parody. I've slashed. A lot. I talk a lot about writing fic, but I don't do much of it anymore. It used to be because fandom was more of a social thing for me and I'm lazy, but now it's also because I have a small child. Plus, to be honest, I was able to write a couple of fairly popular stories and then rest on my laurels, only popping up to be amusing in comments when needed (it's nice work if you can get it.)

I am a fandom Support-o Gal, though. I like to rec and link and encourage. I dropped out for a bit due to school (don't let that fool you -- I'm wicked old) and that whole having a baby thing, but I'm excited about the Buffyverse again and hope to be more active as far as fandom participation. (So say I at 7:51 p.m. CST on February 18, 2010.)

If you'd like to add me to your reading list, feel free. I'm weird about friending/defriending. I feel overwhelmed by my f-list at times, because I like to read and comment. But if you interact with me, I'll be your Huckleberry. I over-share. I once scared off an online stalker with my overt "Hey, y'all!" friendliness. I find myself vastly entertaining (it helps if you read every other sentence I write with a wry smile) and who knows? You might, too. Or you might come to think, "I thought there would be more meta... or at least porn. What's with all the baby pics, recipes and hair?" What indeed, grasshopper.

Ahahahaha...I'm sure the ones you haven't read are the insane ones. I have been thinking a lot about fandom lately (um, obviously) and I was remembering a time at Writercon when I was sitting at a table with some really well-known Spike/Buffy, Spike/Angel, Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Faith writers. Someone came by and made a BNF joke about some of the best minds in fandom and I snickered to myself and thought, "And one Spander weirdo who likes to imagine Angel on rollerskates." My hair looked really good that day, though, so it all evened out.

Oh, yay, I'm glad herald_reader is helpful. When I was doing the Herald a lot of the journals at sd_herald were out of date and no longer fannish, so I made that list for me with the stunning idea that I'd use it as my fic journal. Yeah, I'm not that good a multi-tasker...

Ah, writer con. Maybe one day I'll go to that. It sounds like such fun. BNF, lol. The first time someone actually called me that, I was all...horrified or something. Cause I just don't see myself that way.

And lol-I find your journal very useful. But I know what you mean-I keep adding people to the reading list yet there are days when I spend hours searching and searching for fannish stuff. Sadly, a lot of the older writers are gone. But new ones come along so it sort of balances out.

There's an old adage that no one ever admits to being a BNF. On one hand, there are the negative connotations some have toward the term. On the other, it's like this scene from Mean Girls:

I find you vastly entertaining, even when I'm not commenting and being vastly entertaining myself. And I love that you're going through a Buffy Renaissance - you may single handedly lead to the spring of my dreams (seriously, i can feel that energy pumping back into fandom, i can!).

But I love the baby pics too. And the recipes. And hello, hair is ALWAYS important. ;)

Oh, good times. Remember that tag team fic me and you (and was it Kathy?) did that ended up with Harmony genetically engineering for her favorite slash pairings to have twins so she could name them . . . well, the girl was Calexica Carousel, I believe.

I didn't imagine that, did I? You did not. I think the baby's name was going to be Cassandria Carousel? Or maybe it was Calexia? I know the middle name was Carousel.

My favorite part of that was where you wrote Buffy on her way to sex up Spike and she casually stakes a vampire because he doesn't have "a chip, a soul or a trigger!"

I don't think I every posted that on LJ, but I think it's on my website. I love that co-writing that made me think, "Fan fiction is fun!"

That mpreg parody is one of my favorite things EVER. The fact that it even made liz_marcs laugh kind of makes me love it.

That Xander post was one of my favorite fandom moments. I typed it up for me, and figured I'd get the three or four Xander lovers I knew to say "Yay!" the fact that it turned out that there are so many Xander lovers made me squee. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
