No class today - it's library day! And if you think I'm actually going to the library, well, we've obviously just met. Allow me to paraphrase this week's Heroes: "The library? Haven't they heard of the Internet?"

Comment on this post. I'll choose seven userpics from your profile and you'll reply here (or you know, your own journal, whichever), explaining what they mean and why you're using them. You can totally answer in comments if you don't wanna post.

I needed a non-fandom default icon. I keep
adis723 on a hamster wheel in Texas expressly to make icons and conjugate obscure Spanish verbs for me and she and I discussed options. Going with a diamond was weird since I chose the name not for jewelry but for a) the Floyd song and b) the Dolly Parton "It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world," quote. Adis found this pic that combined both diamonds and lipgloss and it was ON.

This is the oldest icon I have - I've had it almost as long as I've had a journal. I found it on a now defunct website and it reminds me of a long-ago "Buffy" ramble I had with
uberaeryn when I had just started watching BtVS. She was telling me about the Kingman's Bluff scene and literally came to tears. It reminds me of falling in love with the Buffyverse.

Adis and I were geeking over our love for Tara in "Older and Far Away" and I said, "Her scenes with Spike are just so sassy! She's all, 'Well, slap my ass and call me Glinda!' So, of course, fic Spike did." We giggled and I begged for an icon. A computer blow-up and year-long absence from fandom later, Adis complied.

This icon has no story - I just thought it was pretty. Since I tend to comment on SPN stuff now and had Dean and Impala icons, I needed Jared and/or Sam ones. It took me a while to find one that didn't do that "the bluest eye" thing to his hazel eyes, and I thought this one was gorgeous.

I love this icon so. I love my home state, I love musicals and
violethamster took some pic spam I'd posted of
elcazavampiros and me and blended our faces in as Curly and Laurie. O what a beautiful mornin', indeed.

One of my favorite Nick Brendon photo shoots. Not even for the wet shirt he's rocking in it, I just really love this expression. This is also the icon I used for my massive I Love Xander post, and it always makes me remember my first and forever fandom love.

I want to be Lorelai Gilmore and/or Lauren Graham when I grow up. The fact that I am already older than Lorelai Gilmore and only...checks imdb...three years younger than Lauren Graham is neither here nor there. The fact that Lauren Graham/Jared Padalecki is my het OTP is no small thing, either.
God bless the DVR. Considering all of the papers I'm required to write this semester, my TV consumption feels somewhat excessive.
How I Met Your Mother I would watch this show for Jason Segel (Freaks and Geeks) alone. Hello? Ultra-tall, Jewish *and* he loves show tunes and classic rock? Sign me up. Plus it's shockingly hilarious at times. Add in Doogie, Willow and slap bets - I'm there.
Heroes I watched all of Season One in two days over the summer. All the same accolades everyone else gives it - yes. Plus Caza and I get to argue because his favorite character (Peter) gets on my nerves (Gilmore Girls angst) and my favorite character (Claire) bugs him. And Mohinder and Niki are hot. Trek nostalgia! And NONE of the kids annoy me. Plus - Mr. Muggles!
Weeds This is the funniest show that no one wants to pay for Showtime to watch. I almost canceled Showtime after QaF went off the air, and then this sucked me in. I've loved Mary Louise Parker since the Whistlestop and this is about pot! And porn! And cornbread pot! And...hot underage guys I feel skeevy for perving on! Plus the best line I've heard all season: "That boy's gayer than a handbag full of rainbows."
Reaper I loved the pilot, but subsequent episodes have made me laugh but not made me care about the plot. The monster of the week thing feels like same monster, different week to me. I could be MoW'd out after BtVS and SPN, but again, it makes me laugh. And Ray Wise! Hi, you!
Bones David Boreanaz is hot. I thought he was hot as Angel, but I never knew he could be the HOTTEST in JC Penney suits with a big-ass belt buckle and funny socks. This is the only "who dunnit" type of show I've ever watched, and since they don't make me watch the courtroom part (often) I'm happy. Plus the squints. And Brennan makes me smile. And pony-parties!
House I won't say much other than I'm surprised at how much I like this season's structure. I wasn't sure I would. I love every single main character on this show. But I love Wilson most.
Mad Men Caza watched this from the beginning, but I some how missed that whole "AMC Original Programming" thing and couldn't find it. I caught up a couple of episodes back and now wish I was a real writer so I could, like, really write for this.
Smallville Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack and Erica Durance are very, very pretty. Plus I like all the primary colors jokes.
Supernatural I like folklore. I love classic rock (from back when it was "rock.") I love that freakin' car even though I turn my nose up at car culture. I love the whole fractured family dynamic. Clowns do kill. I think rock salt is awesome - it makes ice cream *and* stops demons. I love being able to call
adis723 after every episode and parse the amusing, the banal and the sublime. I love that, because of geographical locations, we can say, "Full on pyscho, or sumthin'?" exactly like Jared Padalecki. And those two guys are kinda hot. Mumble. Mumble.
I want to like "Pushing Daisies" (hello, pie! And Kristin Chenoweth, native Oklahoman and friend of the journal) but the quirkiness borders on slightly too quirky for me. I'm still giving it a chance. I gave up on "Bionic Woman" when I realized I was watching Max chew his tail rather than the show. The Max Ratings, I call them - when you'd rather watch a weinerdog sniff his own ass than what's on the television. I eagerly await the return of "Battlestar Galatica," but I've given up on "Lost."
And then "The Daily Show" every night. And in between, I memorize Spanish verb tenses and try to write non-vitriolic papers on antisemitism in "The Prioress' Tale." And exercise. And spend the hours required to get hair this effortlessly gleaming. And look for monkey pajamas on ebay. And go to all of those cocktail parties I'm required to attend as Mrs. Dean of Humanities, with my ever-present cigarette and bouffant. Oh, wait, that's Mad Men. Caza only requires me to listen to all of the "You should have been in here in the 70s when things were all key parties and Manhattans!" gossip he gets from the world's oldest living secretary.
And call
adis723 and/or
ladycat777 every night to talk about everything we did all day. *ends on Buffy nostalgia*

I enjoyed the books, and I frequently read HP genfic, but my heart still belongs to BtVS/AtS. If you want to dip a toe in,
