I've never been to the Rt 66 museum! However, whenever I got to get my hair/nails done, I sing the "Oklahoma City, sure looks pretty" bit from the song Rt. 66 'cause The Wild Hair Ranch (yes, that's what it's called) is on Rt 66.
Tulsa is very, very cool. Everything from actual cool cred music festivals to Oklahoma barbecue and western swing. I forgot Ralph Ellison! I was also surprised to find out that Jeane Kirkpatrick is an Oklahoman. Who knew?
The Flaming Lips?? *hides horror* Just the coolest band EVER. The Lips are the cool band that other cool bands wish they were in. Experimental, transcendent, incandescent and...robots! And they're still based out of Oklahoma, not LA. Impressive. They're probably most mainstream known for their mid-90s hit She Don't Use Jelly and YouTube didn't have my favorite Lips song ("Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell") but here are a couple of favorites: Be My Head Race for the Prize.
