I hadn't read many mpregs. I remember reading one (I couldn't even tell you what it was) in my early fandom reading days and thinking, "Whoa...Xander's pregnant?" While I didn't find that part particularly irksome, it wasn't very well written. Then I started reading this because I love Entre's writing and went, "Huh, that's really...pretty good."
