crazydiamondsue: (will xan love [scintillation])
crazydiamondsue ([personal profile] crazydiamondsue) wrote2005-03-10 09:44 am

All that and a package of crisps

I'M CLOSING ON MY HOUSE TODAY!!!

[livejournal.com profile] elcazavampiros and I will be throwing our sofa cushions on the floor tonight and sleeping in in OUR NEW HOUSE! It may even involve cheap champagne and hot monkey love - you don't know! It won't, however, involve [livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn, who is blowing off New House Day in favor of drooling all over Keith Urban tonight. *jealousy poorly disguised as disdain*

And now, because Spam is gross: Like, six posts in one!

I dithered over posting this, because I couldn't include everyone I wanted to include, and then I didn't want it to be just one long wanky list of names of people I like, so I gave my listing a theme - Me!!! (I might act all Willow - goofy and supportive on the outside - but underneath, I'm pure self-involved Buffy. Ask anyone.) These are the writers who made me want to write fanfic, shaped my OTP and that I've spent the better part of my short tenure as a fic writer slyly ripping off...

[livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn. Without her, there would be no [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue, and that would just be a bloody fucking tragedy. Er, right? She forced me to watch this stupid sounding show about teenagers and vampires and held my eyelids open with clothespins so that I couldn't turn away from acknowledging the hotness that is Giles, Angel, Spike, Tara...(Fanfic taught me the hotness that is Xander.) And I'll be unabashedly honest: I thought the idea of fanfic was the stupidest, most geek-o-rama idea I'd ever heard of when she mentioned it. *cough* Yeah, that opinion lasted until about 10 seconds after my first piece of feedback. Oh, shit, this is supposed to be about Aeryn.

Or as I call her - Kathy. She was the first writer I ever acknowledged with the ultimate compliment ("Hey! You're better than me!) and her writing rekindled my fandom love when my fic flame started blowing in the wind. If you love Spangel, AtS or even just really well written plotty slash and you haven't read Fading - well, that's just wrong. I mean, the woman subverted on of my biggest squicks (Giles/Scoobies love) and made me love Buffy/Giles. Guffy! She made me a Guffy lover!!!

[livejournal.com profile] karabair. Carrie is one of the smartest people I've ever known (which is why I like to tell everyone I was one of her life lines when she was on "Millionaire" - and there's the mention of me in this tribute, in case you missed that) which is why I always found it terribly amusing that her sig quote on her very astute emails about politics, religion and literature was some actor named James Marsters talking about Chekov and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. [livejournal.com profile] karabair wrote the very first piece of fanfiction I ever read and has the distinction of being the person to mention Spike/Xander to me in a humorous aside, creating what some could term an obsession...

Much like [livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn, [livejournal.com profile] karabair can write any character, any pairing, but is perhaps best known for having a fantastic Wes voice. She's done so much fantastic Wes, in fact, it was hard to determine my favorite. And then it wasn't that hard when I remembered that I'm the shallow, smutty one, and her Cordy/Wes [livejournal.com profile] winter_of_wes entry, And Other Strangers, while certainly not shallow, is smutty in that good, down low tickle kind of way.

[livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn and [livejournal.com profile] karabair introduced the concepts of Buffy, fanfic and live journal, and amused me with the giggle-pointing at this phenomenon called Spander, but it was someone else who made me stop giggling.

[livejournal.com profile] secondverse wrote the first slash fanfic I ever read that made me go...wow, real writers are writing fanfic??? (Excepting [livejournal.com profile] karabair and [livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn, of course, because I know them in RL and have seen them in their underwear and also very drunk and therefore they can't be that awe inspiring anymore. Ahem. Continuing with Yin.) Yin's fic "Long Time Gone" did several things: It made S/X my OTP (before I even knew what OTP meant), it made me suddenly realize how freakin' hot Xander was (I had honestly watched the speedo scene going - eh, Xander, cute. I must have been under a de-lusting spell) and she made me write the most gushing, fangirly feedback email I think it's possible to create (it didn't have rainbow colored hearts and unicorns, but only because I don't know how to use Photoshop.) I hope she didn't save it. She showed me that fanfic could utitilize prose, allusion, symbolism - and let's face it - proper grammar and spelling - and this passage from LTG:

Spike broke the kiss and panted harshly. He twined one hand into Xander’s hair and roughly pulled his head back so that their eyes met. “Luv, I’m going to have to apologize in advance,” he gritted out between pants. “For what?” Xander’s breathing was also unsteady. “For how fucking sore you’re gonna be tomorrow.”

May, possibly, have been my first braingasmTM-Lazuli. And when it comes to thinky-fic and the consequences of our actions, "In The Shadow of Kilimanjaro" Part One and Part Two gave me Yin-envy. In the end, she made Spander resonante for me on a level beyond the fact that I found them both hot and amusing. Not to mention that her offhand comment, "So, whatcha gonna write now?" turned into Sunday Morning, which, you know, gave me a flist...

Okay, I was gonna do this all in one fell swoop, but Caza's here to take me to the signing! A signing! A signing!

So, coming soon:

[livejournal.com profile] spikendru
[livejournal.com profile] dovil
[livejournal.com profile] darkhavens

I know, the anticipation of how I will work myself into descriptions of their greatness is killing me, too!

[identity profile] likeadeuce.livejournal.com 2005-03-10 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
aww, you're the bestestest!

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore that Lilah icon. The thought of Lilah with a squee amusing me terribly. And I only told the truth...

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_divya_/ 2005-03-10 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats on the signing! Yay!

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks - and they gave us cookies! Buy a house - get a cookie! It was awesome.

[identity profile] paynbow.livejournal.com 2005-03-10 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh! New house! Squee! Moving is fun and not fun...everything's all new, but you also have to cart shit around... *g*

Btw, working yourself into descriptions of thier greatness? Hee! It's something I do too...I'm just less upfront about it. Cordelia's of the world UNITE! *g*

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Not everyone can be a Cordy. I called [livejournal.com profile] karabair yesterday after we got out of the signing and said, "Now I'm doing that Cordy, 'Excuse me, I have to call everyone I've ever met,' thing." She understood. :)

[identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com 2005-03-10 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
AHHHHHH!!!

*runs in circles, flailing arms with excitement*
*pees pants*
*stops*
*is shamed*
*continues with circle running and arm flailing*

YOU'RE GONNA HAVE SEX IN YOUR NEW HOUSE TONIGHT!! WooT!

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
There was no sex in the champagne colored room. :(

There was broom buying, rug pricing, corn dog eating - not a sexy euphemism - and attempted sleeping. I'll give you the scoopage on the down low. After my mornin' meetin', that is. And that icon still makes me snicker.

[identity profile] darkhavens.livejournal.com 2005-03-10 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
A signing! A signing! Yay!

And I'm a 'coming soon'! Woot! *snogs you madly*

Have lots of good dirty fun on your sofa cushions. ;o)

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Too tired to get the sofa cushions, [livejournal.com profile] elcazavampiros and [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamondsue collasped onto bed quilts on the floor, listened to their tramatized cats caterwall for hours, and finally fell asleep, grinning despite the utter discomfort of the sleeping arrangements. But yay - homeless no more!!!!!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_sharvie_/ 2005-03-10 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats on the closing!

WHOO-HOO!!

*party and dancing and therefore trashing of Sue's new place ensues*

And be sure to have fun on the sofa cushions tonight. ;-)

And when you get back to work next week, there's a wee little porny present for you. But nothing as snazzy as couch cushions, I'm afraid.

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I have your story, baby, I got most of the way through it before I had to leave yesterday, and I will be finishing it this morning before I leave again. But come Monday, your beta has DSL and no more excuses...

Thanks!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_sharvie_/ 2005-03-11 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Eep! I just, as in like two seconds ago, sent you another copy since I couldn't stop futzing and hoped that you'd hadn't had the chance to get to it. *whimpers*

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry your pretty little head! I'd only gotten through a few paragraphs, so it'll still be okay! Off to a meetin' get back atcha this afternoon...

[identity profile] yin-again.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the rec, sweetness, and congrats on the house! Yay!!

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You're very welcome and thank you. New house!!! Yay!!! A whole new view to stare blankly through while I'm trying to figure out how Sunday ends...hmm...

Congratulations on the signing! I want pictures!!!

[identity profile] crazydiamondsue.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Pics to come as soon as I get my website re-hosted, which will be a project for next week, as well as burning your long past due b-day cds. But I'll have DSL again!! And cable!!! Oh, the geeky things that excite me...

[identity profile] tgray.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Take your time. (On the CD's, not the pics :-) I'm not going anywhere...

And DSL and cable?? Things that bring happiness!

Yay, house!!! Yay, recs! Although, they certainly weren't people I haven't squeed over before, they're still the reasons I have an LJ, and see, there I go again...thanks!

[identity profile] uberaeryn.livejournal.com 2005-03-11 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, stop. No, don't stop! Oh, stop ...

Quit it! Let me squee over you!

How was the concert? Did you get loaded? Did you hit on KU? I have white trash neighbor stories!!! Whee!!! (We're talking loud ass car stereo bass and thumping Kid Rock at 3:30 a.m. on a Thursday...whee!!!)

[identity profile] ex-dovil323.livejournal.com 2005-03-12 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE! Your new house! That's so brilliant! You'll have to have a huge house warming party and trash it. No! Have it at the parents place!

YOU HAVE A HOUSE! Wheeeee!

[identity profile] spikendru.livejournal.com 2005-03-12 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Best of luck with the move! And many, many happy years in your new house.

Great recs, I've bookmarked some of them already. Oh, and when I recced caza, someone said they tried to find Anya's Story, but couldn't. Is your server still down? Let me know when B.E. is back up, okay, cause I told theperson I'd let them know.

Rodeo plot: Xander's insecure; he doesn't believe that the great Angel can really be permanently interested in him. He babbles; Angel's tacitern--they argue. Angel takes off for the next stop on the rodeo cricuit. Xander's all depressed--thinks it's over. Finally comes to his senses and follows Angel. Goes to A's motor home and finds Darla coming out of the shower. X leaves in a huff. Wackiness ensues. Finally finds out that Darla is Angel's ex-wife from way back when. She wanted to get back together, Angel turned her down, and X/A have great gay cowboy make-up sex.

I finished Tutelage 5 and am sending it to your hotmail account. Let me know if I should send it elsewhere.
