crazydiamondsue: (Balloons)

Flooding one block behind my house after the thunder storms and tornados that rolled across Oklahoma tonight from northwest of Oklahoma City to the south and southeastern part of the state.

I think y'all have had beyond your quota of disaster weather this year. It needs to stop right now! That flooding is mighty close, it's going down now, right?

Very glad you checked in, I worried about y'all.

The flooding has gone down, but we had our roof totalled by our insurance a few weeks ago. Our roofer was supposed to come next Monday (after rescheduling twice due to rain or tornadoes) and our ceiling dripped like a colander last night. Places opened that had never dripped before! Who knows if Monday will work for the new roof. I am ready for 100 degree days and NO RAIN, damn the drought! Okay, not really. But Christ on a cracker.

That's awful! Sounds like the delay is going to cost the insurance company even more money. At least it better be the insurance company and not you. I hope nothing precious got soaked.

We are safe! Some hail and wind damage to our already totalled roof. No idea when that's getting fixed. My BFF Kathy (the artist formerly known as [livejournal.com profile] uberaeryn) weathered the storm in her car in the path of the tornado and then was able to get into the bathroom of a convenience store with some other folks. The convenience store lost its roof, and then she had to drive home in the floods. It was a horrible, horrible night for almost everyone I know. Thank God there was no loss of life or pet or home for any of my friends & family.

Holy crap, how scary. I'm glad you and your family are okay and hope your house is fixed soon.

How were things in your neck of the woods? The rain and hail were crazy insane, worse than I've ever seen. I'm starting to believe in End Times, Tabi! Or at least Apocalypse, The.

We've had some big storms come barreling through, a lot of flash flooding and a lot of tornado warnings and watches, but nothing more than downed limbs and power lines, here and there, so far. Which is good.

But man - the lightning and the wind have been intense, and it seems were going to get more in a couple days. Forget March - all of Spring seems to be coming in like a lion!

Man, this year is BANANAS. So happy you were keeping us updated on FB. <3 to you, E and J.

I don't know if the smokin' good BBQ and Tex Mex in this neck of the words can justify the heart pounding fear. I literally had to meditate during the drive last night because my heart was jumping (jack flash). I will never again leave my house that close to a tornado. I know it's crazy face to do it, but all of our weatherfolk were screaming for us to evacuate. I-40, I-35, I-44 and I-240 were all parking lots last night. It created a city wide panic and people were stuck out in the weather for hours. If it had been an F-4 or F-5, the death count would be insane. Both Kathy and Michele were stuck in traffic trying to evacuate (both left an hour before the storm ETA; the tornado path shifted *and* the highways clogged). I'm not kidding, it was like the pilot of ep of Walking Dead, sans zombies. There was a full-blown panic in Oklahoma City last night. I've never seen anything like it. Global Climate Change. Bitches need to own it. You are <3

Was worried about you and yours as MSNBC went all-tornado all the time yesterday, but thought "well, at least Cousin Jeanne (from Nichols Hills) is safely in St. Louis" where twenty minutes later she was in her basement...

Julia, glad y'all are OK, to put it mildly.

I know! It was such a fast moving storm, and no one area was safe. It hit my hometown of Porum around midnight and did some mild damage (uprooted trees, etc). I'm truly ready for a miserable Oklahoma summer with heat radiating from the blacktop and get a sunburn from checking the mail.

Yikes that is scary. And your poor roof is totaled? I'm glad you're safe, and glad that Kathy survived her scary trip. It has not been a good month for OKC.

They just finished our roof yesterday: cinnamon frost. It looks lovely. New gutters, too! I am old and excited by such things.

I found out that our church, very close to our house, has a storm shelter. So that's the plan next time. Have things settled down in MA? What a rough year it's been for just about everyone!
